British Peerage in West Florida

The Privy Council for the Dominion of British West Florida is composed of experts in various fields, selected by the Governor-General to provide confidential advice on affairs of state. During the reigns of the Norman Monarchs the Crown was advised by a royal court, which consisted of Magnates, Ecclesiastics and High Officials. The body originally concerned itself with advising the Sovereign on legislation, administration, and justice.

The Privy Council for the Dominion of British West Florida continues that tradition. Some Councillors have been chosen for their knowledge of the Law, or of Medicine, or of Public Relations. Other members have been chosen from the foreign and diplomatic services to ensure that a diverse body is at hand to consider the issues of the Government. The Governor-General heads the Council when Her Majesty is not present.

The Privy Council currently consistes of the following members:

Lord Baron Bela Vajay de Vaja, Surgeon General, Viscount Chattahoochee, Privy Councillor
Guy Drury, the Solicitor General, Privy Councillor
John Houston, the Lord Marshall, Privy Councillor
The Honourable James Alcock, Privy Councillor, Order of Saint Barnabas
His Excellency, Alan Goudman, High Commissioner to Alberta, Privy Councillor
