James Alcock, Privy Councillor, Order of Saint Barnabas:The Right Honourable James Alcock was born and brought up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the youngest child of the late Professor Charles Benjamin Alcock, a lecturer of high temperature chemistry at the University of Toronto and Dr. Valerie Alcock, a medical researcher and surgeon. Both parents came to Canada from the United Kingdom. Both his older siblings live in Calgary, Alberta and are married.
A Boy Scout and Navy League Cadet, graduating from the Cresent School for boys in Willowdale, Ontario in 1979, completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto, Scarborough Campus, in 1983 in Urban Planning, specialising in transportation systems. He has continued his career as a transportation specialist and consultant.
Served in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve from 1977 to 1982, achieving the grade of Leading Seaman.
Currently living in Scarborough, Ontario, an outer suburb of Toronto. He joined the Federal Commonwealth Society (now the United Commonwealth Society) in 2002 to promote closer ties among core Commonwealth Nations. He became president of the Canadian Society in 2002, and of the Society in general (with branches in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, and the Dominion of British West Florida) in 2005. As an active subject of Her Majesty the Queen of Canada, he is active with the Toronto Party (the main opposition party on the Toronto City Council) serving as Chairman of the Transportation Committee.
Continuing to build up support for a stronger Commonwealth bloc, he became a Privy Councillor to the Government of the Dominion of British West Florida in 2007.
In a show of support for Her Majesty's Government in the Dominion of British West Flordia, he carried the flag of the Dominion in the United Commonwealth Society Contingent in the Pickering Easter Parade in Pickering Ontario, Canada - the first time the Dominion Flag was flown in a sister Realm.
