Why a non-secessionist Sovereign Nation? Why not 'Fight for the Right'? Why should we remain a dependency of the American Republic, a nation itself born in War?
The people of the Dominion of British West Florida accept the current conditions of fact. We are not blind to the fact that the Dominion's Territorial Claims are fully enclosed and incorporated in those of the United States of America. Beyond these 'facts of the maps', we have a shared experience with the American People, and many of us feel an attachment to 'America' as our native land, the 'Home of the Free, and the Land of the Brave'. We are not prepared for a separation, much less for a divorce from our compatriots.
To attempt to separate ourselves from the American Republic by force, would be a rejection of the principal of lawful action. We must, as a people, as a Nation, always act in accordance with the Laws of the Land, in so far as those laws are not in direct contradiction to Scripture. If we condemn the American Revolution as an unwarranted use of violence against the lawful government of His Majesty King George III, we can not in good conscience advocate the use of force against the existing Union.
Those who advocate a more forceful approach to securing our liberties are ignorant of the history of our fair Dominion. The Peoples of the Dominion have tried, three times to remove the yoke of the Republic by force, and have suffered greatly as a result of each attempt, and gained nothing from the attempt. Our valiant efforts to support the United Empire during the war of the American Rebellion resulted in our lands being occupied by Spanish Forces, and granted by treaty to His Most Catholic Majesty, the King of Spain. The ill-fated attempt to establish ourselves as a republic, after the abdication of Charles IV of Spain, resulted in occupation and annexation by the United States of America. And while Tallahassee was the only Capitol in the East not taken by force during the War between the States, the peoples of our land suffered under the ravages of War, and the occupationists governments of the so-called 'reconstruction'.
In point of fact, we must remain within the United States of America. This does not mean we can not be Sovereign Nation. It is not an unknown thing, a Nation within a Nation. In the days of Empire many lands became protectorates of Great Britain, retaining for themselves local governance and authority while assigning to others the external affairs of War and Peace. The original Tribal Nations, though often mistreated, have maintained, and are now enhancing their status as Nations, albeit dependent nations. Under existing federal laws, they are able to judge their own people in their own courts, and to evict non citizens from 'tribal/national' lands.
Recognition as a 'dependent native nation' or a Protectorate of the United States would allow the Dominion of British West Florida the freedom to enact its own laws, binding on those that are members and citizens of our great 'Tribe', without calling upon us to sever the ties to the land and country we hold as dear as our ancestorial homelands. This then is why we are and of right ought to be a non-secessionist Sovereign Nation: Sovereignty of the People, under God and Crown, can be achieved by peaceful means, in accordance with the Laws of God and Man. And as Sovereign Realm with the United States, our ability to act as Salt and Light for the American People would be greatly enhanced, as our light would be able to shine before them from within the house, giving light to all. As a secessionist state, even should it succeed, our light would at beast be only that which could enter in at a window, or open doorway.

The Dominion of British West Florida is a micronation. Micronations (also called Micro Nations) are the smallest form of official nationhood. Usually they are nations which hold little or no land, but have laid claim to sovereign independence and territory. Most are unrecognized by the major countries of the world.
In most cases, Micronations are attempts at founding new nations. Many Micronations have proclaimed declarations of independence, adopted constitutions, sought diplomatic recognition, appointed ambassadors, displayed national flags, and issued stamps, passports, and currency.
EXILED STATES: These are Micronations which have a government, but have lost their soverign land. Such states have been recognized as "established" at some point in time, have claims to territory in their homeland, and may still be recognized officially by some major countries. A well known modern example of this is the Tibetan government in exile of the Dali Lama. "Exiled" Micronations can be extremely viable... during the second world war the government of France existed as a Micronation, consisting of an organized faction which had lost its land to the German invasion.
UNRECOGNIZED PEOPLES: These Micronations are organized racial, political or social factions which claim the need for independant recognition and/or full "nation" status, usually because their needs are not being met by existing political and national situations. Most often "unrecognized peoples" have either not held their own central government in the past, or have formed a "new" governing system to replace a government which ended in history. Most modern Native American nations and other indigenous groups may be included in this category. A well known example of an "unrecognized peoples" nation is the modern state of Israel, which was founded after WWII to restore the Hebrew people to their traditional homeland, even though the ancient government of Israel had not survived the centuries in exile.
Micronations in general exist as a compromise between the will of the major world powers, and the desires of people wishing their own separate nationhood. They are usually peaceful attempts at manifesting sovereign independence that do not interfere with existing nations or international situations. Most micronations are tolerated but officially ignored by all major world countries and governments, and exist as a substrata of human organization holding somewhat less than full "recognized nation" status.
